“The Courtroom"
(Chp 8:7)
Thomas looked to the herd.
The "herd” of horses with did not seem so inclined. There was mixed emotions there. They snorted and stomped their feet often swishing their tales, but Thomas could not get a "read" on them. Most of them were out of sight, but at times the dark impression of them gave away all that they were thinking.
It felt like a jury of his peers, though they were horses. When Thomas looked at Caleb it was obvious he was not “seeing” the same things he was.
Caleb was obvious; he was fascinated and watched every move the Angelic made. Except for that momentary look in the eye of the Angelic, no one looked at him, not even Caleb. Thomas knew Caleb was thunderstruck and in awe.
That was what made it all so intimidating to Thomas.
There was no eye contact or at least that was what he kept telling himself. Not one person was looking at or had even glanced at Thomas at all. Except for the Angelic, when any other horse was in the light, they never glanced his way.
It really was as if he wasn't there at all.
As if the “Horses of Zebulon” had already realized Thomas was no longer there and it was just a matter of time. Thomas felt like he was being chased and yet no one was giving chase, he was running but no one was following.
The tension was evident when Thomas broke a branch to cast in the fire and he himself jumped.
A pelican swooped in about the time Thomas was going to say something. That was different, it wasn’t a horse. And even as he landed more animals seemed to be arriving. A herd of ewe lings about twelve of them came trotting up and seemed to be oblivious to everyone.
They went past to the pool of petals and plopped down in the midst of them. Snuggling they faced back to the fire watching the Horses from Zebulon and the Angelic SpiritKind golden horse. As they huddled together more AnimalKind were arriving.
Lions and Tigers and…., every kind of animal seemed to be arriving. They didn’t come two by two either. Flocks, groups, solos, it was as if the Animal Kingdom turned up for a circus. Only they were the spectators with mankind in the center ring.
Even animals once rarely seen in the Land was now evident and they kept coming.
If it could have been seen in the dark, from all over the near lands and even from afar, Israel's animals in the kingdom were on the move. Some slow, some swift, some large and some small. A cavalcade of every variety of “AnimalKind” appeared to be heading to Bethleben and where Rose had been.
It felt as though a tide of life was on the move. All kept heading towards and arriving like waves on sea shore. They formed circles outside of circles in the dark as animal after animal arrived to “witness” what was occurring.
At first it had been a little disconcerting and even a little aggravating to Thomas. He had not fully reacted to the animals who kept arriving till finally after about an hour of animals he had had enough.
He stood, stretched himself, looked over at Caleb who was enjoying the animals and turned to face the Golden Horse. His confusion was gone. He was just frustrated.
He was getting angry.
At that moment as he faced the mighty image of the Angelic SpiritKind Golden Horse looking so formidable and sheer power, he had second thoughts.
What if the Angelic decided to stomp him? Or worse? Thomas couldn't imagine what was worse but this was one Big Horse and those wings he had weren't tiny either. Still looking at the formidable animal he stirred up courage inside himself. He got mad.
Just as he was about to speak a sparrow landed on top of the horses head.
That stopped him in his tracks. The Angelic didn’t react, but Thomas emotions did. His anger deflated immediately.
This is ridiculous, thought Thomas.
But as he thought it he smiled.
His anger dissipated as though it had never been. The absurdity of a horse with a bird on his brain made Thomas think good old “horse sense” and just got a taste of being “bird brained”. That thought almost made Thomas laugh.
The sparrow like swallow swooped down to the ground in front of him. Standing between him and the Angelic Thomas looked down at the little guy almost fondly.
That silly bird again cocked its heard first to the right. than to the left, and then twisted it like only birds can do and peered at Thomas the whole time.
It jumped once, twice, thrice closer to him and was soon in the full light of the fire.
Thomas then recognized it. He smiled again as though he had found a long lost friend. It was the bird that always visited Eben each morning. Thomas remembered how that bird could sing.
"Tell everyone what happened, they want to know."
Stated the bird.
