Asteroid Near Miss...,

Newfound asteroid will pass by Earth at lunar distance Thursday

By John Matson

A freshly discovered asteroid, roughly as long as a tennis court, will zoom past Earth at about the distance of the moon Thursday, according to NASA. The space rock, called 2010 GA6, was first observed Monday by the Catalina Sky Survey, a telescope project in Arizona that seeks out near-Earth asteroids and comets. 2010 GA6 will make its closest approach to Earth, at a distance about 430,000 kilometers, at 10:06 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time.

The proximity of 2010 GA6's approach is not unique; in 2010 three other asteroids have come as close or closer to Earth. But the newfound visitor is the brightest asteroid, and consequently among the largest, to draw so near in the past year. Its brightness indicates an approximate diameter of 20 to 40 meters; the next brightest to pass at or within lunar distance in that time span was 2009 JL2, an asteroid about 17 to 37 meters across, in May 2009.

It is not unusual that 2010 GA6 was discovered so soon before reaching Earth's vicinity; asteroids that small are difficult to spot at great distances. No other approaches of lunar distance or closer are known to be imminent in the next year, despite the fact that they occur every month or so. In other words, plenty of asteroids are headed this way—they simply have not been spotted yet, and asteroid watchers are more focused on the larger objects that pose greater threats to life.

In 1998 Congress charged NASA with finding kilometer-size and larger asteroids that draw close to Earth. A good portion of that population has now been catalogued, and the scope of the survey has since expanded to include objects down to 140 meters in diameter, only a fraction of which have been found. Even smaller objects of the 2010 GA6 variety probably number in the millions, and they could still do significant local damage with an impact.

There is a roughly 50 percent chance of a 30-meter-plus asteroid striking Earth each century, according to Clark Chapman, a space scientist at the Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, Colo. Chapman told ScientificAmerican.com in 2009 that such an asteroid impact would cause a multimegaton atmospheric explosion over Earth's surface, rather than impacting it. "It could be quite damaging (and even lethal) out to distances of 10 to 20 kilometers in all directions if it happened over a populated region with weak structures," Chapman said.

Prophecy Digested

Prove All Things knowing that all Prophecy is about Jesus and God revealing His Son…To us..for our…Salvation. We post material that is questionable, objectionable, and in the opinion of the Editor of the Prophetic Perspective, valid to use as God chooses to. Sometimes that is highly suspect as material setting “dates” of the Rapture is, but often these posts, may have pieces that are correct to futher study.

LastCall: Saul and David's Relationship Ruptures -Wow The Big Picture

Saul and David's Relationship Ruptures

1Samuel 18:1-19:18; Psalm 41:1-3; Proverbs 12:4

Now when he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. Saul took him that day, and would not let him go home to his father's house anymore. Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. And Jonathan took off the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, even to his sword and his bow and his belt.

So David went out wherever Saul sent him, and behaved wisely. And Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul's servants. Now it had happened as they were coming home, when David was returning from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women had come out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with joy, and with musical instruments. So the women sang as they danced, and said:

"Saul has slain his thousands,
And David his ten thousands."

Then Saul was very angry, and the saying displeased him; and he said, "They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed only thousands. Now what more can he have but the kingdom?" So Saul eyed David from that day forward.

And it happened on the next day that the distressing spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied inside the house. So David played music with his hand, as at other times; but there was a spear in Saul's hand. And Saul cast the spear, for he said, "I will pin David to the wall!" But David escaped his presence twice.

Now Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, but had departed from Saul. Therefore Saul removed him from his presence, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people. And David behaved wisely in all his ways, and the LORD was with him. Therefore, when Saul saw that he behaved very wisely, he was afraid of him. But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out and came in before them.

Then Saul said to David, "Here is my older daughter Merab; I will give her to you as a wife. Only be valiant for me, and fight the LORD's battles." For Saul thought, "Let my hand not be against him, but let the hand of the Philistines be against him."

So David said to Saul, "Who am I, and what is my life or my father's family in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king?" But it happened at the time when Merab, Saul's daughter, should have been given to David, that she was given to Adriel the Meholathite as a wife.

Now Michal, Saul's daughter, loved David. And they told Saul, and the thing pleased him. So Saul said, "I will give her to him, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him." Therefore Saul said to David a second time, "You shall be my son-in-law today."

And Saul commanded his servants, "Communicate with David secretly, and say, 'Look, the king has delight in you, and all his servants love you. Now therefore, become the king's son-in-law.'"

So Saul's servants spoke those words in the hearing of David. And David said, "Does it seem to you a light thing to be a king's son-in-law, seeing I am a poor and lightly esteemed man?" And the servants of Saul told him, saying, "In this manner David spoke."

Then Saul said, "Thus you shall say to David: 'The king does not desire any dowry but one hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to take vengeance on the king's enemies.'" But Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines. So when his servants told David these words, it pleased David well to become the king's son-in-law. Now the days had not expired; therefore David arose and went, he and his men, and killed two hundred men of the Philistines. And David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full count to the king, that he might become the king's son-in-law. Then Saul gave him Michal his daughter as a wife.

Thus Saul saw and knew that the LORD was with David, and that Michal, Saul's daughter, loved him; and Saul was still more afraid of David. So Saul became David's enemy continually. Then the princes of the Philistines went out to war. And so it was, whenever they went out, that David behaved more wisely than all the servants of Saul, so that his name became highly esteemed.

Now Saul spoke to Jonathan his son and to all his servants, that they should kill David; but Jonathan, Saul's son, delighted greatly in David. So Jonathan told David, saying, "My father Saul seeks to kill you. Therefore please be on your guard until morning, and stay in a secret place and hide. And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, and I will speak with my father about you. Then what I observe, I will tell you."

Thus Jonathan spoke well of David to Saul his father, and said to him, "Let not the king sin against his servant, against David, because he has not sinned against you, and because his works have been very good toward you. For he took his life in his hands and killed the Philistine, and the LORD brought about a great deliverance for all Israel. You saw it and rejoiced. Why then will you sin against innocent blood, to kill David without a cause?"

So Saul heeded the voice of Jonathan, and Saul swore, "As the LORD lives, he shall not be killed." Then Jonathan called David, and Jonathan told him all these things. So Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence as in times past.

And there was war again; and David went out and fought with the Philistines, and struck them with a mighty blow, and they fled from him.

Now the distressing spirit from the LORD came upon Saul as he sat in his house with his spear in his hand. And David was playing music with his hand. Then Saul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear, but he slipped away from Saul's presence; and he drove the spear into the wall. So David fled and escaped that night.

Saul also sent messengers to David's house to watch him and to kill him in the morning. And Michal, David's wife, told him, saying, "If you do not save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed." So Michal let David down through a window. And he went and fled and escaped. And Michal took an image and laid it in the bed, put a cover of goats' hair for his head, and covered it with clothes. So when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, "He is sick."

Then Saul sent the messengers back to see David, saying, "Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may kill him." And when the messengers had come in, there was the image in the bed, with a cover of goats' hair for his head. Then Saul said to Michal, "Why have you deceived me like this, and sent my enemy away, so that he has escaped?"

And Michal answered Saul, "He said to me, 'Let me go! Why should I kill you?'"

So David fled and escaped, and went to Samuel at Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and stayed in Naioth.

Virtue* Sycamore Trees - cathe laurie

At the park where I jog, the sycamore trees are starting to drop their crisp leaves on the paths.

The cliffs overlooking the Pacific are scattered with clusters of dried wildflowers that just a month ago wore color combinations too flashy for my wardrobe. Today, they wear the darkening shades of brown, rust, and beige.

Early this morning, I stopped to touch the delicate blossoms, only to watch as they turned to powder in my hand. Seeds, no doubt, meant for another spring.  The field, once arrayed with glory that even Solomon couldn’t rival, now stands withered and faded in the chilly autumn breeze.

Forgive me, if this sounds melancholy. I don’t mean to be. It really should stop us, breathless with wonder, to consider how quickly the summer’s beauty faded into fall.

Isaiah tells us, “The grass withers the flowers fade but the word of the Lord endures forever.” What is true of nature is true of life. Nothing will last forever. Not flowers, not beauty, not wealth, not intelligence, not fame.

So, if nothing lasts, what is our raison d’être, our reason for being? We want things to last. We are wired that way.

May I suggest that perhaps we are seeking the wrong things or, should I say, the wrong One? If it is anything other than seeking the glory and immortality that God alone can give, trust me, you will grow cynical.

Yes, life is short and it will be hard at times, but oh, dear sister, if you believe in Jesus and the words of the Bible, then you have that reason for living, and it is a life that neither time or sickness or tragedy can take from you.

Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life”(John 5:24).

Take a closer look at the tense of the verb Jesus uses: ”He who believes in Him . . . has everlasting life.” Not will have, but already has.

And this everlasting life is guaranteed to be filled with undying, unending glory that we will share because of our maginficent Savior!

One Thousand Years: Genesage "The Dream" (Chapter 10:9)

One Thousand Years

Genesage

“The Dream"

(Chapter 10:9)

He saw the red come to her cheeks, and he didn't say a word.

He watched her mouth as she spoke. He was trying hard not to think about the first and last time he had interrupted her. The way she moved her lips, he was always fascinated.  He thought of something and was about to interrupt when his instinct for survival took over. He just relaxed and sat there.

Good idea, there might not have been any more for Ezravivor to tell because he might not have lived through a repeat performance of Hurricane D.

She had such full lips..,

He could sit and just watch her for hours as she would talk. He hardly ever remembered what she said, but he liked the way she looked at him and the color of her eyes. He never seemed to get enough of listening to anything she had to say. The little fuzzy lightheaded feeling he always got when she spoke directly to him, he didn't care if it was about the weather, the day or someone else.

He just reacted every time she looked and talked directly to him.

The first part of the story was always the same. He imagined himself the Groom. Even now after all these years a slight shiver ran down his spine. Imagine Him, and Delilah, together, for a thousand years. He lost track of time for a moment savoring that thought.

Ezravivor and Delilah, Delilah and Ezravivor, like two peas in a pod. Which after he thought about it he rejected as everyone knew there were more than two peas in a pod, a whole lot more.

He wanted Delilah to be with just him.

Laughing at himself he had almost forgotten the best part. To hold her in his arms, to finally kiss her and…,

Her voice had broken at just that moment and startled Ezravivor from his fantasy.

She never failed to tell the same scene. It always faded from an ideal wedding into a nightmare event. Delilah in a rare moment years ago had said that’s what marriage was. The guy is always Prince Charming till after the Wedding then he shows his true colors and becomes a real jerk.

Ezravivor had pressed her then asking more questions, but all she would say was that she didn’t mean that all men were jerks, just the ones that were male.

Ezravivor didn’t get it.

When Ezravivor asked Eben about it the only thing he said at the time was,

“You must be talking to a Woman Survivor”

All Ezravivor knew is that whatever a jerk was he didn’t want to become it. Judging by the way Delilah looked at this part of her memories, it definitely must be something bad, really bad.

She looked so different now. Transformed instantly. Haunted and hunted like a trapped animal desperately seeking a way out.  Her eyes full of despair and fright. They seemed to recede into her skull.  He hardly recognized her as her breathing became rapid.

Her demeanor and look; ashen and furtive. The rise and fall of her chest made one think she had run a marathon instead of sitting on the ground. She trembled visibly.

White robed angels by the thousands with flaming swords were flying into the bridal party. That group being numbered in the thousands. Angels were slaughtering people. Horses with mounted riders came galloping in with swords and trampled everything in sight. Screaming was going on all around.

There was blood turning white into red.

Red that stuck. Red that would not let go. Red that could not be washed, the stain remained.

Each time Delilah retold she would cover her ears as if she were hearing them again. Screaming, screaming, and more screaming, Delilah’s mantra of terror went on.

In the dream the groom from the altar shouted. And it seemed warriors from out of the ground itself sprang to his side and fought back. Out of the east a dark cloud of grotesque animals and flying creatures more nightmares than mankind could imagine could be seen. They were coming, they were coming, they were coming, she always mumbled then.

And at the moment of worst cataclysmic contact between the angels and the grooms party, the flying and the riding, the bride turned to face her and always Delilah saw herself.

She always stopped there as if she woke up.

LastCall: Death & Burial of Israel -Bob Caldwell

Death & Burial of Israel

"Forty days were required for him, for such are the days required for those who are embalmed; and the Egyptians mourned for him seventy days." -Genesis 50:3

The Egyptian people showed great respect and love for Joseph in how they genuinely shared in Joseph's sorrow over the death of his father Israel. Not only do they honor Joseph's father in the length of their mourning, which was only two days less than what was done at the death of a Pharaoh, but many traveled to Israel's burial site in Canaan.

This shared empathy must have helped to heal Joseph's heart, which had, no doubt, been broken through the many times he suffered so much wrongdoing without compassion or love from those around him.

God is overwhelmingly gracious to those who do not become bitter against people or God in times of abandonment and sorrow. Instead, they keep their hearts open to God. They also choose to forgive those who had shown a calloused heart to the suffering and injustice that was endured.

God imparts to people such as Joseph not only grace to keep from becoming bitter, but also a season of kindness from others as seen here in the Egyptians' deep desire to share Joseph's sorrow experienced in the loss of his father. Therefore, may we sow seeds of mercy, no matter how little is shown to us. For in the end we will reap our own harvest of mercy, if we faint not.

Genesis 49:29-50:14

 Jacob's Death and Burial

29 Then he charged them and said to them: "I am to be gathered to my people; bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite, 30 in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite as a possession for a burial place. 31 There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife, there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife, and there I buried Leah. 32 The field and the cave that is there were purchased from the sons of Heth." 33 And when Jacob had finished commanding his sons, he drew his feet up into the bed and breathed his last, and was gathered to his people.

Genesis 50

1 Then Joseph fell on his father's face and wept over him, and kissed him. 2 And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father. So the physicians embalmed Israel. 3 Forty days were required for him, for such are the days required for those who are embalmed; and the Egyptians mourned for him seventy days.

4 Now when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spoke to the household of Pharaoh, saying, "If now I have found favor in your eyes, please speak in the hearing of Pharaoh, saying, 5 'My father made me swear, saying, "Behold, I am dying; in my grave which I dug for myself in the land of Canaan, there you shall bury me." Now therefore, please let me go up and bury my father, and I will come back.'"

6 And Pharaoh said, "Go up and bury your father, as he made you swear."

7 So Joseph went up to bury his father; and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt, 8 as well as all the house of Joseph, his brothers, and his father's house. Only their little ones, their flocks, and their herds they left in the land of Goshen. 9 And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen, and it was a very great gathering.

10 Then they came to the threshing floor of Atad, which is beyond the Jordan, and they mourned there with a great and very solemn lamentation. He observed seven days of mourning for his father. 11 And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning at the threshing floor of Atad, they said, "This is a deep mourning of the Egyptians." Therefore its name was called Abel Mizraim, which is beyond the Jordan.

12 So his sons did for him just as he had commanded them. 13 For his sons carried him to the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, before Mamre, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite as property for a burial place. 14 And after he had buried his father, Joseph returned to Egypt, he and his brothers and all who went up with him to bury his father.

The Burial Of Jacob (Verses 1-13)

v. 3 Embalmed Israel – Most likely Joseph utilizes the Egyptian physician made available to him as a political leader.

Seventy Days – The mourning period was only two days short of the mourning period of the Egyptians for a Pharaoh.

v. 11 Abel Mizraim – This means the meadow of the Egyptians.
