His home was rigged as a death trap with explosive devices to cause more damage and carnage.  Israel is surrounded by the likes of Hamas and Hezbollah as well as nation states that are bent on its destruction. Iran is galvanized against the world denying peace and preparing for war. They are building an arsenal culminating in a nuclear weapon. There president has vowed to wipe Israel off the map. Civil war in Syria yet another Arab nation that wishes the destruction of Israel is in full force. Rebels and Nationalists are dying daily in bloody fighting. The leader of this embattled nation is hanging on by a mere thread and grows more desperate by the hour. Syria has a cache of chemical weapons at its disposal High ranking defectors have warned that the use of aforementioned weapons of mass destruction is not off the table and that a desperate man clinging to power may decide to use them against his own people. Even more troubling for GOD’s chosen people is that these caches could end up in the hands of terror groups or rogue elements in the Syrian military or rebels that could then be turned on Israel.  A sovereign debt crisis in Europe, a multi trillion dollar national debt in America, blazing heat causing wildfires and severe drought threaten the world’s food supply, the list could go on and on. Signs of the times lay before us on an unprecedented scale. Not since the cold war has the world sat so close to the brink of chaos and multi-national warfare. The world seems anything but peaceful and safe. We are less than six months away from what many secular, new agers, as well as religious of the world believe to be a key date or the most vital moment in the history of planet earth. That day is of course December 21st 2012. The end of the Mayan calendar, the web-bot project, the Chinese I-ching and many other sources both ancient and modern have put significant emphasis on this upcoming day. Those who believe such things look at this day as a day of dread and apocalyptic destruction. The world awaits this day believing that the sword of Damocles will finally drop at the winter solstice. As the weeks and months pass those who believe in this Mayan prophecy hold their breath. Many people sensing that something just isn’t quite right with the world, hoard food, water, and weapons in the hope of lasting out this storm of storms.  For those of us born again by the spirit of almighty GOD by the belief in his only begotten son the messiah JESUS we know what is wrong with the world. We know that the time of Jacob’s Trouble draws nigh. Divine judgment is befalling our fallen world. We may not know the day nor the hour, yet we know the times and the seasons. We know that the time is now. Like birth pangs these cataclysms will increase in both number and severity until the Lord JESUS calls us up to meet him in the air. We don’t need a crystal ball, channeled messages, or any form of divination (things specifically forbidden by GOD) to tell us the future. The bible the true word of GOD is an unerring playbook for our lives and for the end times. We only need to open it up to know the beginning and the end.  In the book of Thessalonians it states: “While they are saying “peace and safety” then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains like a woman with child and they will not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief, for you are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We are not of night or of darkness; so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober. For those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night. But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. For GOD has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord JESUS CHRIST, who died for us , so that whether we are awake or asleep, we live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” It is not for us to be taken unawares. It also is not for us to be caught up in the negative doom and gloom. We are to admonish and encourage one another. We are to reach the lost while there is still time left to do so. We need to reach those who have not made the commitment to JESUS CHRIST as Lord and Savior. At this point in human history it definitely looks like anything other than peace and safety. We know that the word of GOD is unerring fact. We know there is to be seven years of tribulation that will befall those who are left behind. So as all the people who await December 21st 2012 with a sense of fear and dread make their preparations, we too need to make our preparations. Ours is to preach the message of JESUS. Ours is to read and study scripture. Ours is to put on the whole armor of GOD. There has been so much hype in regards to the end of the Mayan calendar that large numbers of people worldwide truly fear this day. When it comes and goes just like the Y2K crises, they will breathe a collective sigh of relief. Then the world will once again be saying, “peace and safety”, and that is when destruction will come upon them suddenly.
