Whether you realize it or not, you are making an impact. The people you love and spend time with everyday will be influenced by your life, for better or worse. Do you realize the impact you make in the lives of others when you simply "observe and obey" the words of God? It's not difficult. When you commit to studying God's Word and obeying it, people notice. Your family, your friends, your co-workers -- people take notice of authenticity. They acknowledge it, admire it... and imitate it. You see, when you obey the Lord, He will not only bless you -- He will bless the people you love.
I am a blessed man because I look at my family and I see that my kids are blessed, and that their kids are blessed. God has honored Sandy's and my prayers from when our kids were five years old, six years old, seven, eight, nine, and ten. Every morning we'd pray with them before school, and at night we'd have a devotional with them before bed. You know, they each grew up, and of course they're not perfect -- but they are blessed. If you're a parent, your children will be blessed if you will simply "observe and obey" the words of the Lord.
God doesn't expect or demand that we become perfect people who live perfect lives -- He simply desires our obedience. See, we obey what we love; we live our lives in submission to whatever we value most. If we love the flesh, we obey its lusts. But if we love God, we obey His Word. We can say we love God, but unless we obey Him, our words are meaningless. That's why a life of obedience to the Lord is so impactful. Obedience is the proof of authenticity that speaks louder than you.
Maybe you are worried about people you love, whether family or friends. Maybe you have prayed for them for years. Or maybe you are worried about a situation that you, yourself, face. Be obedient to keep praying, keep hoping, and keep loving. God will be faithful to bless not only you, but also the ones you love. Simply concern yourself with obedience to Him. Observe His words and trust them enough to obey them.
Nothing is more honoring to the Lord than our obedience to Him. Nothing can demonstrate our love for Him more -- not words we speak or even sacrifices we make for His sake (1 Samuel 15:22). And nothing we do will impact our world more for the sake of Jesus Christ than our obedience to Him.
