He Is Able Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us… —Ephesians 3:20
We have a tendency to measure the obstacles before us by our own ability to climb them. And that is reasonable if we are the ones who have to do the hiking. But that is the wrong measuring stick if God is the One who is going to handle that mountain for us. Difficulty must be measured by the capacity of the agent handling the task. If God is the One tackling the mountain, the word "difficulty" has no place in the equation. As He said, "Behold, I am the Lord. Is there anything too hard for Me?" (Jeremiah 32:27).
We must learn to look at situations not in the light of our strength, but in the light of God's strength. When the doctor says, "We are sorry, there is no hope. We have done all that we can possibly do," we despair. Why?
Because men have done all they can.
We reach the end of that sentence and conclude that there is no hope, without ever taking God into account. But the moment you factor God into the problem, despair flees. When you remember God, hope returns. We must remember that God is able to deliver from the fiery furnace, and the den of lions. He is able to deliver you from sin and from death—and from any present trouble causing you distress. Are you facing a mountain today?
Ask the able One to show Himself mighty on your behalf—and then believe that He will. Father, thank You for loving us. Help us to get our eyes off of the circumstances and on Your great ability. Amen.
Ask God for help.
