"Honoring God in the Morning"
Christian Testimony
You shall not go about as a talebearer among your people; nor shall you take a stand against the life of your neighbor: I am the Lord.
Leviticus 19:16
It is terrible when Christians gossip and talk about their family members. Sometimes, they do not even see each other, because they have cut each other off. That is not true Christianity. As children of God, as Christians, we should go out of our way for our family, for our friends and for strangers.
As followers of Christ we should act in all lowliness, which is humility, gentleness, meekness and patience, because we are trying to bear ourselves in the love of Christ. Why? Love suffers long, and the love of Christ is truly longsuffering.
Read 1 Corinthians 13. Paul taught about God’s love. Love does not point fingers, love does not accuse, love does not judge, love forgives and forgets, but we do not do that; we keep a little record. It is terrible, but it happens in the body of Christ, in the church. It is so sad when you see this, because the children see how their Christian family is acting and they turn away from God.
When we gossip about people, it does not only affect our families; it affects every person we come into contact with. Eventually, our actions push people away from Jesus Christ, instead of drawing them to Him, and we will be held accountable for their souls.
As God’s children, we have to be careful we are not offending. We should be building people up, forgiving and restoring. That is the love and grace of God. That is the testimony of a person who follows Christ.
Christian love is not the victim of our emotions but the servant of our will.
