Q. If God is not willing that any should perish, how come all are not chosen before the foundation of the world? In order for someone to come into the family of God, He needs to draw them to Him, but He does not draw/save everyone. I am not questioning God. Just trying to better understand His word!!
A. In my opinion, this is the fatal flaw in the Calvinist point of view. If God’s desire is for everyone to be saved as 1 Tim. 2:1-4 and 2 Peter 3:9 clearly state, and if He alone chooses who will be saved, then why doesn’t He save everyone?
Romans 8:28-29 has the answer. God foreknew those who would choose to be saved and predestined (appointed) this to happen. Then, at the proper time in our life He calls us (draws us to Him). When we respond, as He knew we would, He justifies us, and at the rapture / resurrection He will glorify us. This process begins with His foreknowledge of who would choose Him.
John 3:16, John 6:40, Matt. 7:7-8, Romans 10:9 and Romans 10:13 all state that it’s our choice to believe, but because not everyone chooses to believe not everyone will be saved (John 3:18). | |
