“Laid to Rest"
(Chapter 9:7)
Jesus laid Thomas to rest amidst the petals of what once had been Rose.
Caleb had been standing nearby. He wasn't sure what to do. Only a few minutes had gone by as far as he was concerned. He didn't know what was happening nor what was occurring. He hadn't moved, but having the King of Kings in the Kingdom Age standing at a fire holding a fellow student of yours, was unnerving.
So much had happened today. Caleb, born into the Kingdom barely thirty years ago wasn't used to this kind of excitement. He needed time to process things, think them out, understand them. His normalcy had been assaulted in the extreme. No time to react, not enough time to comprehend. Overwhelmed his course was set.
He did the only logical thing he could think of.
He ran as fast as he could out of there. Fleeing was easy for in so doing, he felt better. The running was comforting which made running make more sense.
As he ran, the fleet of foot, like an adrenaline rush, took the place of thinking. He didn’t need to process, all he needed to do was run. That was more to Calebs mindset right now.
Don't think, don't look, don't wait, run.
He ran all the way to Eben's house. There He woke him from a dead sleep. Not able to speak at first with the huffing and puffing but soon as he could recover he let Eben know what had occurred.
Eben just smiled.
Meanwhile The Son of Man had lowered Thomas covering Him with petals. The same ones Rose had shed. The fragrances in those bloooms that had once perfumed the air all around. He covered Thomas with them like a blanket or quilt. Next Jesus walked over to the dead, lifeless form of Rose. He paused looking where Rose had been. Embracing the trunk, he hugged the lifeless trunk speaking softly to the husk.
Flexing his muscles he suddenly twisted snapping off the trunk. A wrestling move it appeared to be, but in fact was simply the breaking of the lifeless vessel that had housed his creation.
With what limbs remained, he snapped them off. What trunk was present he tore full measure out of the ground whole. He broke off what trunk there was from the roots. The roots he broke also. A large “crack” accompanied each break sounding familiar but echoing loudly throughout the area.
At the first sound of the snapping of the trunk, it was as if all the AnimalKind that had come suddenly awakened.
They had stood as if frozen in time. The first “snap” cast Birds flying into the air. The snap immediately unsettled the horses to stomping. Every creature that had come from near and far was unsettled at first by the initial snap, but wandered off as Messiah continued his ritual.
All God's creatures, big and smell seemed to be returning to where they had come from. No panic, no rush, a sense of resignation carried them with an air of peace that the King had come. As Prince of Peace, King of Salem they knew peace was restored.
The interest was no longer there so they returned to the life each was living in the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth.
The procession though started with the golden horse with wings, the Angelic SpiritKind, who walked up to where Thomas "slept" near to where Rose had stood. Standing tall one moment it was shocking the next as the SpiritKind knelt its front haunches for a moment in silence. After kneeling the Spiritkind rose walking away into the night.
He seemed to be headed towards the pond/lake near Eben's cave.
After the Angelic Horse was gone, in suit each Animalkind did the same, Sheep, horses, birds, mountain lions. All proceeded in procession bowing like a dirge or a line waiting to view. They, one by one knelt down before where Rose had been, where Thomas slept.
Solemn not a word was spoken. Each did so till all AnimalKind had left heading to the lake out of sight. From there they waded into the waters, eventually leaving back to thier individual living places. Some to Ashkelon, some to Nod, some to Beit le hem, some farther.
Eventually all had left the campfire as well as the lake.
When all had left Jesus carried the “Log" of what had been the “body” of her near the fire. He began snapping all the remaining “branches off”. Purpose with design seemed evident but not a word was spoken. Nary a whisper of wind except God moving as a servant. The servant showing how concerned he was by the infinite detail he took to each task he performed. As if all his life were a stage and He the grand master.
This moment in the center ring: “love”. God’s love, his great love. The Son of Man, about the caring for, just one man.
Thomas.
Stacking what was left of Roses Trunk he laid them near the log. At the fire he made the branches into even piles. Walking to nearby fruit trees in the orchard Eben had planted Jesus stopped at a Fig Tree holding out his hand.
He spoke. The Fig tree heard. It cast it's fruit into his outstretched arms, till overflowing he said to Stop. The fig tree did so. Messiah collected all the Fig Tree had cast including the ones lying on the ground. Not one was left behind, all were accounted for. He didn’t lose one.
All were brought as food for the man asleep in his care.
In like manner He went to each tree in the Orchard. He asked for Fruit. In like measure of overflowing, they gave. Abundantly ripe, the Trees cast their fruit into His Hands and at His feet. In each case he thanked them, thanked his Father, gathered all the fruit, leaving not one behind, he brought them to the sleeping man.
Where Thomas slept, Messiah took leaves he had asked for from a Plantkin nearby. The pIant let go it’s leaves. It shed all it's long narrow green leaves.
The pattern was the same. He asked. They gave. He thanked them, He thanked God. He wasted nothing. Everything was harmonious.
It seemed so simple when Jesus did it.
He gathered the leaves together carrying them to where he sat down and wove. Menial labor, time consuming, the Son of God, the Son of Man, unruffled, un-plussed, took his time weaving twelve baskets. As He completed each one He proffered it to His Father raising it to the sky. He said a “benediction or prayer of blessings up on it. He did the same with each one. He completed,
Placing the fruit in them, he separated into each basket after their own kind. Each time he carried away a basket of each kind back to the place Rose died, where Thomas slept. He set them, six kinds to the left, six to the left with Thomas in the midst of them, asleep.
Thomas eventually woke up from his exhausted sleep.
He had stirred earlier but lay watching God work. Awake he witnessed all God was doing for him. Slowly sitting up he watched as The Son of Man was about the affairs his "man" needed. Awed or simply silent it was hard to tell. Thomas just sat there.
The mundane actions performed with care comforted the one who watched this man, this Jesus. This God, so human, so divine, enamored himself to Thomas as no other ever would or ever could. Serving as lesser, the greater took upon himself the need of his servant. This was the Kingly Way, the personification of what it meant to lead as Jesus said. To be a Priestly prophetic, King. Prophet Priest and King, yet Son of Man, Son of God. One personage God was, is.
Jesus.
This yeshua.
Like a servant Messiah addressed all the need Thomas might have had. When Jesus was finished he came before Thomas again, sitting down facing him.
