Paul Washer, John MacArthur, Mark Driscoll, Charles Spurgeon, George Mueller, and probably a lot more I’m forgetting.

R.C. Sproul, John Piper, John MacArthur…all have helped me to better understand God’s sovereignty and his holiness.

I like Frank Peretti. His novels really highlight how spiritual principles play out in everyday life.

7.   Comment by Jerry Teets

One single Christian author…it would be Charles Spurgeon.

8.   Comment by Sheila

For nonfiction, my favorite is John MacArthur. I am in agreement with his beliefs, not only as far as essentials, but non-essentials. My favorite fictional authors are Francine Rivers (I HIGHLY recommend the Mark of the Lion series) and Frank Peretti.

The author of my salvation…Jesus Christ our Lord. I do not read other publications, too many of them are strange fire! They seem to take the Spiritual things in Scripture and turn them into the works of the flesh.

I truly do run away from strange voices. For it is only Christ who comforts me and keeps me in a safe place, I know His voice……Really!

My favorite of all is His Word that is the Bible!

John Piper, John MacArthur, CJ Mahaney, and many others.

I am currently reading written by Sam Storm, Chosen for Life, a great book to understand the Calvinist’s view and that crazy Arminian’s view. The Arminian’s view have me scratching my head and don’t understand how can they believe that which doesn’t line up bibically. I can understand Calvinist’s view which does seems to be line up with Biblical view of Election.

I appreciate quite a few of the writers mentioned above. Of current writers, I’ve probably found the most to edify me–and also to stretch me–in the books by Warren Wiersbe.

‘Guerite ~ BoldLion and All;

BoldLion, if you are going to read authors on Calvinism then please for the sake of the “Body of Christ” go to the website http://www.biblehelp.org and click on “Selective Salvation” (election) and read the 60 some chapters on two of some of the most divisive doctrines that have needlessly divided the Global Body of Christ. Both Calvinism and Arminianism in their entirety are highly divisive and one really should wait for the guidance of the Holy Spirit tempered with Scripture and Prayer before indulging in either of these doctrines!

Can’t go wrong with Piper, Spurgeon, Sproul, Packer, Tozer, and the like. But within the last year or two, I’ve discovered Jerry Bridges. His book, “Transforming Grace”, is absolutely incredible!

Hi! Ceseeley,

I do remember that you didn’t like Calvinist. Let be fair, I am just reading and learning about Calvinist. This is book Chosen for Life is a great book written by Sam Storm who is a man who used to be Arminian and so hard headed until he understood Calvinist belief. This book is very educational book to read a long with the Bible to double check. So far, I do agree with Calvinist belief and not Arminian belief which had left me scratching my head. I haven’t finish it but will soon. (Soon is not in a day but about 1 1/2 weeks.) The most important is to have a correct understand of His Election Biblically and not just Calvinist or Arminian way.

If I do have time to read all that link online that you just gave me then I will read it. I rather read it in book form which is easier for me.

I am not hyper-Calvinist because I do believe in evangelism.

Read my blog about this book: http://boldlion.blogspot.com/2009/11/calvinstic-concept-of-election-vs.html

Hi! Ceeseeley,

I just read part of the link that you gave me. I don’t agree with them on this. We can’t trust everything that we read.

That is why I read a book with the Bible to double check it to see if the belief does line up to His Word biblically.

I would encourage you to read Chosen for Life with the Bible for every Scriptures reference to look up. You will be amazed by this.

Guerite ~ BoldLion and All;

Bold Lion; you are right, it is good to have the Biblical, Holy Spirit led truth about Election and not be led by some man made doctrine(s).

Debbie, I have a question for you in GQ “Riding the Hobby Horse;” question #28.

32.               Comment by Andrea Gadson

As a fiction writer, I have to vote for Jerry B. Jenkins. I enjoyed the Left Behind series.

33.               Comment by matthew, mark, luke or john?

I read nothing but Bible anymore, for a long time. Man’s words are combustible – always – when we get to Absolute Truth’s so Holy Spirit it is.

The few that stand out in past from amongst the reams of theological garbage writings by others, and being above the others in writing/Truth are:

JI Packer
CS Lewis.

CS Lewis is very good, I do a lot of deep analytical dream work and analytical work (self first) and for many others. Lost count of the number of times an analysis matches a CS lewis story perfectly!
