The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
-- Lamentations 3:22-23
On New Year’s Day 1929, the University of California played Georgia Tech in the Rose Bowl. During a play, a Georgia player was hit while carrying the ball, and the ball flipped into lineman Roy Regals’ hands. And Roy took off running!
He was nearly tackled time and again, and was spun one way and then another. He kept running and soon broke into the clear. But just as he approached the end zone he was tackled… by his own man. Roy had run in the wrong direction.
During halftime, Roy sat in the corner of the locker room and wept. He asked his coach, “After what I did, how can I get back on that field?”
The coach said, “Roy, what’s done is done.” And what he said next changed the direction of Roy’s life forever. He said, “Son, I believe in you.” Roy played the greatest second half that anyone had ever seen him play!
As a believer, you have a God who believes in second chances, in tenth chances, and in one hundredth chances! He never gives up on you… even if you’re running in the wrong direction.
YOU HAVE A GOD WHO NEVER GIVES UP ON YOU!
