“Words of Life”

Preparing the Soil (Introduction):  All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, (2 Timothy 3:16). God’s Word is powerful. God's character is contained in His Word. The Bible is the guide to living right for Christ followers.  It touches on all aspects of life. Thank God for the gift of His Word to us.

Planting and Watering the Seed (Growth): Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8). The Lord’s faithfulness to all generations is evident in His Word. The fact is that what God speaks, He brings to pass.  He also gives us the boldness to approach the throne of grace confidently.  God’s Word that comes out of His mouth will not return to Him empty, but will accomplish what He desires and achieve the purposes for which it was sent (Isaiah 55:11).

This principle is illustrated very well in the story of the centurion (a soldier in charge of hundreds). As Jesus entered into Capernaum one time, He was approached by the centurion (Matthew 8:5). The soldier’s servant lay at home, very sick, and suffering terribly. Jesus immediately offered to go with the man to heal the servant. The centurion did not want Jesus to go with him as he felt unworthy to have Jesus under his roof.

The centurion said:  For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come’ and he comes. I say to my servant ‘Do this,’ and He does it. (Matthew 8:9).

The centurion knew Jesus only had to speak the Word, and his servant would be healed. Jesus marveled at the centurion’s faith. Jesus told the centurion to go and assured him it would be done just as he had believed. The servant was healed that very hour. The Word of God is loaded with power; we can release our faith, confident that every Word will come to pass.

Harvesting the Crop (Action/Response):  For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12).

Do you always put your trust in God’s Word? His promises are true, and He esteems His Word even above His name. Every Word God has spoken concerning your life is to achieve a purpose. If God has said it, you can believe it, and that settles it!
