The Carnal Church
“Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not
want you to be ignorant: You know that you were
Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however
you were led.”
1Corinthians 12:1-2
Here, Paul is having the same discussion that I am having with you today. The people of Corinth were asking about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Paul is speaking to the church because they had a real problem. They were not a spiritual church, they were carnal, led by their fleshly lust. That is the church today.
There are too many carnal people in the church today, and God cannot move through carnality. He only moves through spirituality. You have to understand this. God will not work through carnal people. He will move through spiritual people who are aligning themselves with God and are open to the Holy Spirit, willing to do, not what we want, but, what He wants, because He gets the glory. He only uses us as vessels—we are His vessels.
Like a glass of water. Before God can use our lives, we have to be emptied and then refilled. We have to be empty of self and then ask God to fill us with Himself.
I don’t want to be filled only to the brim, but I want to be overflowing with His Spirit. That is what the Scriptures say in Acts 1:8—we are empowered by the Holy Spirit.
If you want to be of use, get rightly related to Jesus
Christ, and He will make you of use unconsciously
every moment you live.
