Bless One Another

speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Ephesians 5:19-20

How beautiful Paul describes the attitude and heart of the believer. Paul told us we are to be Spirit-filled people who use their voices and their mouth to edify and to build up, and not to tear people down. We are to speak kindly to one another, in psalms and hymns. We are to sing songs of thanksgiving to the Lord.

I think this is really important, because many times, when we go out with friends we are jesting and we are not really building up, but we are tearing down. We are bringing ourselves into bondage. Paul recommended, if you are going to speak to another person, speak to them in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs — building up.

When you are stopped in traffic, instead of getting frustrated and yelling at people there is a way to make it better. You can spend the time waiting listening to praise music and worshipping God — singing songs of thanksgiving to the Lord.

Sometimes, we get so caught up with the things in the world. We allow worldly things to bring us down. Then, when we talk to others, we tear down instead of building up. We need to be thankful. Be content and do not strive. Allow God to use your life as a blessing to others and to Him. If you are a Spirit-filled child of God, these are the attitudes and the fruit of the Holy Spirit that should be in each of our own lives, individually.

The Holy Spirit is the great beautifier of the souls.
