Revealed in God’s Word

(for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.
Ephesians 5:9-10

Notice Paul was contrasting the things of the flesh with the fruit of the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is not fornication, lying, robbing, jesting or covetousness. They are all things of the flesh. The fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth.

When we are walking in the Spirit, not the flesh, we are doing what God has told us in His Word, being obedient to the Word of God. The only way we can find out what is acceptable to the Lord is through His Word.

It is not enough to go to church and listen to Bible studies. We must read the Bible, study and meditate upon it. We must wait upon the Lord and see what the Holy Spirit is going to reveal to each one of us individually.

I think it is so important for us to recognize, we cannot call ourselves Christians and ignore God’s Word. There is no way we can have an intimate relationship with the Lord without reading His Word. The heart and character of God is revealed in His Word. It is only through the Word of God; we can truly know Him and really know how we are called to walk as children of the light.

I believe Christians remain babies in the Lord, or are carnal Christians because they have failed to read God’s Word. There is no way we can possibly know who we are called to be as Christians without knowing the Bible. We cannot use ignorance as an excuse, because God has given us everything in His Word. Remember that.
There is nothing so costly as ignorance.
