Now the chief priests and all the council sought testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, but found none. For many bore false witness against Him, but their testimonies did not agree. Then some rose up and bore false witness against Him, saying,
"We heard Him say,
'I will destroy this temple made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.' "
But not even then did their testimony agree. And the high priest stood up in the midst and asked Jesus, saying,
"Do You answer nothing? What is it these men
testify against You?"
But He kept silent and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked Him, saying to Him,
"Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?"
Jesus said,
"I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven."
Mark 14:55-62
Many people through the centuries have tried to show Jesus Christ as a slanderer or false prophet, but none will ever destroy who He is.
The political and religious leaders of His day all attempted to prove the testimony of Jesus as being false, but as they tried to stir up accusations, they found none.
This paragraph from Mark is so powerful, and I really encourage you to re-read it with the viewpoint of seeing the qualities and attributes of Jesus Christ. Take time right now just to read these verses again, and then continue reading below.
Jesus said He was the Son of God…and He was.
Jesus said that He came to heal the sick, the lame, the blind,
and the mute…and He did.
Jesus said that He would sit at the right hand of the Father
…and He is.
Jesus said that He will come back in the clouds for His bride,
the church...and He will!
It doesn’t matter how many people conjure up stuff about Jesus. The truth of the matter is found in the matter-of-factness of God’s Word. Period!
Even in Jesus' day, the evil world’s system couldn’t contrive anything against Him. Yes, many will continue to try to disprove Jesus as the Son of God and the Savior of the world, but the facts remain.
He is on the throne!
So as we start this new year, be sure that Jesus Christ is on the throne of your life. Be sure that He’s not only your first priority, but that He’s your only priority.
Put Him not only at the top of your list, but at the center of everything you do -- and of everything you are. Don’t confuse Jesus with some sort of idol or genie that we can manipulate when we’re in a pickle.
He is the very -- and only -- Son of the living God.
While His claims will continue to be distorted and attacked by the world as we approach these last days, now is the time to stand your ground with Jesus Christ.
Don’t be afraid of the enemy or his attacks. The devil has no power over you.
Jesus paid the huge price of death on the cross for your sins; therefore, you have nothing to fear.
Stand firm and trust in Him for everything in your life.
