Voters in North Carolina overwhelmingly approved a constitutional amendment that bans gay marriage in the Tar Heel state. Even President Obama and former President Bill Clinton's opposition to the measure could not convince enough people to vote against the amendment.

Half of All Americans Support Gay Marriage; Protestants Most Resistant

A new Gallup poll on the attitudes of Americans toward same-sex marriage has revealed that around 50 percent of all respondents agree with its legalization. The poll reveals, however, that among religious Americans, Protestants in general are opposed to legalizing same-sex marriage.

A Baptist student group that initially filed for registration at Vanderbilt University for the upcoming semester has changed course and has opted instead to refuse recognition due to Vanderbilt's "all-comers" policy.

A letter signed by about 500 Emory University faculty, students and alumni seeks to bring attention to the anti-evolution views of Dr. Ben Carson. The world-renowned Johns Hopkins University neurosurgeon will be the Atlanta university's May 14 commencement speaker.
