One Thousand Years: Genesage "Ezravivor"(Chapter 10:5)

One Thousand Years

Genesage

“Ezravivor"

(Chapter 10:5)

Smirking, Delilah looked over her shoulder glancing up at him.

She stared for a moment, scowled, and then went back to her private thoughts.

She never invited him, nor was she pleased to have him there. The toss of her long curly hair a sure sign of dismissal. And as she did for the millionth time she knew everyone else would have gotten the message.

Everyone that is except Ezravvior.

There was always one in every crowd. Someone you just can’t get rid of. No matter how much she rebuffed him. He just didn’t “get it.” Delilah had learned to ignore him. Mostly.

Somehow Ezravivor reacted the opposite.

He found it attractive. It made her seem mysterious to him. He never could understand her, but he liked her. Since he didn’t understand her, and he had no experience with women, it was obvious he would never realize her body language. The more she said no his thoughts said yes.

He never could understand how anyone would “want to” be alone so he never left her alone. His ideas were based on his own experience. His experience to date had been to listen to his mother and father explain some strange ritual in the Old World called “dating”.

Since he had no clue what a “telephone” was, or “texting”. He wasn’t sure the ritual “dating” had anything to do with those born in the Kingdom of God. He thought it was another one of those “myths and legends” the Old Worlders talked a lot about.

Ezra hardly thirty himself took her dismissal as an invitation to sit down and visit.

As usual for a male, he took her dismissal for what it was. Irrelevant to his own plans. He had his ideas, she had hers. Since most of the time he didn’t understand his parents, he was not pushed away by not understanding Delilah.

He was used to being ignored by her.

That was part of the attraction, or confusion, he wasn’t sure which it really was. He just like her. He like to look at her. She was something to look at, but he mostly watched her face. He liked her eyes, when she wasn’t looking away from him. That too attracted him.

It was really hard to say what didn’t attract him to Delilah. Looing at her now He had seen that look on her face before. He never took it to mean that HE was uninvited.

Someone else maybe, but he?, no.

It’s not that Ezravvior had an indomitable spirit or a huge ego that he could take no and keep on, far from it. If he had known in the last thirty years that Delilah really did not like him, he would have been crushed. For all of his age in the Kingdom, barely thirty, he really was an innocent.

He had no idea what Delilah thought no matter how obvious or blunt she was about it.

"Mr T, isn't doing so well,"

Ezra stated.

He knew better than to say hello or ask how she was.

Bored but used to the intrusion Delilah asked coolly,

"Who?"

"Thomas, the odd, the old guy, the.."

the list would have continued but Delilah cut him off with,

"oh",

the disinterest was in her voice.

The gentle breeze that hovered over the waters slightly increased.

A lapping of tiny waves hardly an inch or two high crossed the surface of the lake rippling at the shoreline near them a few feet away. Delilah watched each beat on the rock face raising the water line an inch or two then recede. Watching the inane she actually enjoyed the lack of thought, the non-emotion.  With no need to always think she could just be. She hardly realized Peace when it slapped her in the face.

"Bad dreams?"

asked Ezravivor.

He already knew the answer to that one.

All the Survivors, including his parents, had experienced dreams after coming into the Kingdom.  Delilah was a Survivor. Here in the Land the nightmares were fewer for those who had not gone to the Celebrations in Jerusalem or made “The Decision” yet.

Those who had gone to the Jerusalem Celebrations three times a year came back changed.

A lot happier, seemingly more fulfilled, and they did not have nightmares.

All that was foreign to Ezravivor.

He had been born in the kingdom, he heard about things like dreams or nightmares, but he had never experienced either one. He supposed one day He would have one but really never spent any time thinking about it. Nightmares were for the old folk. T

hey were all too familiar to the much older woman, Delilah.

She had known them all too well.
