Life Lesson
We mature spiritually, and often heal spiritually, as we serve others.
Peter is now doing what Jesus told him to do. In this passage of Luke, Jesus gave not only Peter, but all of us one of the keys to being restored; strengthen your brethren. Peter listened to what Jesus said in Luke 22 and Peter did what Jesus said in the first chapter of Acts.
The disciples are no longer asking about who would be the greatest. They aren't talking about who had the greatest sin or how Peter had fallen. They are standing together in unity and in prayer, doing the work of the kingdom. This is the way a body of believers will have maximum impact. By standing together, we discover that healing is found in pouring ourselves out for Jesus. Pour yourself out and discover the blessing of what God will do with one surrendered life. Together we can change the world.
Dear Lord, Help me to focus on the important things and not be distracted by selfish want or foolish gossip. I want to commit myself to standing beside the body of believers in my church to serve You by serving others. I want to surrender my life to Your kingdom. Please give me a mind for it. I pray this in Jesus' name, Amen.
