Letter About Suffering - II

by Paul K.

I received your card. I read it over several times, as it surprised me (in a pleasant and good way) to read of how my letter was used of God to touch not only you, but others as well, especially folk in the Widows Might.

Some verses came to mind:

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

God cares for us in our hurts. The fact that God comforts is a reminder that life is not going to be pain-free. We will fall and skin our knees, get bloody noses, black eyes, and yes, even fractured or totally broken bones. Life in a fallen world will hurt, sometimes so badly, so deeply, that we despair of life itself.

It’s then that God enters in, gathering us in His Father’s arms, and comforts us as we cry and bury our faces in His strong shoulder. Thank God for the book of Revelation where He tells us of the end to all the pain:

“And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.’”

For us who are Christians, we need to shed our tears, yes, but also take time to put aside our own tears to see the hurting people around us who do not yet know God or His salvation. For them, there is no Father’s shoulder to cry on, but only a certain dreadful doom to face God’s wrath and judgment and eternal imprisonment and torment in the Lake of Fire.

Let us do good and tell them of Jesus, so that He may turn their sorrow into joy. To all our Rapture Ready friends, I appeal for you to think a moment. Is there someone you can share Jesus with, even today? How about that salon hairdresser, or that cashier, or that bank teller, or that friend or neighbor next door? How about that car mechanic, or police officer, or fireman, or medical person? Anyone?

We can’t reach everybody in the world. But, we can each reach one, each one his neighbor. Someone has said, grow where you’re planted. God made each of us to dwell where we are, to be a light to those around us—

Tell SOMEONE—today.

“He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son.” (Revelation 21:7)

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” (1 John 5:4-5)

“Many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting life, but the others to disgrace and everlasting contempt. Those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.” (Daniel 12:2-3)

Lead someone to righteousness, and you will shine like the stars forever and ever.

In His Grace and Love,

Paul
