Iran proposes military alliance of Muslim countries
It is necessary to create a military alliance of Muslim countries. No reports of damage after strong quake strikes water off far eastern Russia
A magnitude 7.7 earthquake that hit waters off Russia's Pacific island of Sakhalin on Tuesday inflicted no casualties or damage, Russian officials said. The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry's branch on Sakhalin said the quake was centered in the Sea of Okhotsk about 100 miles east of Poronaysk, Russia, at a depth of more than 373 miles.

Treasury: U.S. to lose $25 billion on auto bailout
The Treasury Department says in a new report the government expects to lose more than $25 billion on the $85 billion auto bailout. That's 15 percent higher than its previous forecast. In a monthly report sent to Congress on Friday, the Obama administration boosted its forecast of expected losses by more than $3.3 billion to almost $25.1 billion, up from $21.7 billion in the last quarterly update.

In Iowa, Obama to announce measures to soothe drought pain
President Barack Obama will announce on Monday that the Department of Agriculture intends to buy up to $170 million of pork, lamb, chicken and catfish to help support farmers suffering from the drought, a White House official said. Tunisian women protest to demand equality
Thousands of Tunisians have protested in the capital, Tunis, against moves by the Islamist-led government which they fear will reduce women's rights.
