U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Friday the Israel-Palestinian conflict should not be forgotten amid wider upheaval in the Middle East.

Clinton met Abbas after attending an international meeting on Syria, where forces loyal to President Bashar Assad have sought for more than a year to crush a rebellion against his family's four-decade rule.

"In a time of upheaval across the region, we cannot lose sight of the critical importance of resolving this issue," Clinton told reporters.

Severe Weather Threat Moves South

Christian News

Much of the East will enjoy a big cooldown by early next week, but possibly at a steep price.

A cold front will continue sagging south Sunday. While this front promises relief from the recent heat, it will be encountering that sticky, unstable airmass first. Sunday's severe threat will follow the front into the Mid-Atlantic states as well as areas farther west into the Ohio Valley.

Damaging wind gusts will be the main concern. Saturday's storms did not produce a large-scale wind event, and Sunday's storms are unlikely to do so - but still, local pockets of wind damage are a good bet.

We're now approaching a two-week spell of record-smashing heat which first built in the Rockies and High Plains, then spread into the rest of the nation's heartland, then surged into the Southeast and parts of the Mid-Atlantic States.

Hand of Judgement?: Gay Pride event at Pentagon Tuesday, June 26; record heat begins on Wednesday, June 27; Supreme Court defies Constitution in Obamacare decision Thursday, June 28; 'Super Derecho' leaves 700 mile swath of devastation from Illinois to Washington Friday, June 29; more than 4500 heat records broken in the past week and Washington, DC sets all time record in nine days from June 28 - July 6, with more coming; Hillary Clinton meets with Mahmoud Abbas over Israel's covenant land in Paris Friday, July 6

"The men who have done the most for God in this world have been early on their knees. He who fritters away the early morning, its opportunity and freshness, in other pursuits than seeking God will make poor headway seeking Him the rest of the day. If God is not first in our thoughts and efforts in the morning, He will be in the last place the remainder of the day." - E. M. Bounds
