An athletic club in Virginia announced Thursday that it is changing its policy to allow same-sex couples to apply for its family membership discount. The policy change was made after it was sued by a gay couple for discrimination.

The 220th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) narrowly passed a resolution on Thursday against using corporal punishment on children.

As the East Coast continues to recover from the massive coastal storm that hit a number of states hard this past weekend, Thomas Road Baptist Church in Virginia has been stepping up its efforts to help thousands of people in need of food and water.

Elevation Church Pastor Steven Furtick preached at a Hillsong Conference in Sydney for the first time on Tuesday, telling thousands of people in attendance and an online audience that God doesn't need anyone to "feel ready" to answer their calling.

Days after being elected as vice moderator of the General Assembly – the second highest elected position in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) – the Rev. Tara Spuhler McCabe resigned on Wednesday after realizing that her recent participation in a same-sex marriage was going to be disruptive.
